April is my FAVORITE month, especially since my move to the Pacific Northwest. The flowers are in full bloom, in fact, I just visited my first Tulip Festival! The deer are out in full force, and the sun is finally making an appearance. Aside from the beauty that April brings, it is also my birth month, and in fact, today is my birthday!
When I first went plant-based my birthday made me nervous. How would I enjoy a slice of cake? What kinds of food could I serve and still keep my guests happy? And I also felt for my friends that were bringing gifts, as I knew many of them had never shopped for a vegan before.
However, that first birthday was amazing. I enjoyed great food, indulged in some vegan-friendly wine, and was pleasantly surprised when the majority of my gifts were free of animal ingredients! And those that weren’t were donated to a local women’s shelter, so even that was a win in my eyes.
I can understand the overwhelm that can come up when planning your first plant-based party though, and because of that I teamed up with my Food Proof Podcast partner, Noor, and we created an entire episode dedicated to vegan parties! Noor and I share some of our favorite recipes including dips, finger foods, and drinks. And we also cover gifts! So whether you are throwing the party or attending you’re covered.
